Maintenance Technician - Control and Instrumentation

Location: Canvey Island, United Kingdom

Type: Permanent – Full time – On site

Salary: £36,000 - £44,000 (Dependent on experience)

 

Calor Gas is seeking a talented Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Canvey Island Terminal. As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our terminal's control and instrumentation systems.

 

About Us:

Calor's Canvey terminal is the largest facility in the UK for importing and exporting refrigerated propane, operating as an Upper Tier COMAH site. Our operations include loading and unloading LPG cargo from ships, managing refrigerated LPG storage, and exporting high-pressure LPG by pipeline and road tankers. Operating 24/7, 365 days a year, this role requires flexibility for out-of-hours working on a standby and call-out basis.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed job planning for maintenance and repair activities.
  • Conduct preventive, corrective, and diagnostic maintenance on instrumentation and control systems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and test various types of control instruments and systems.
  • Assist in the installation and retrofitting of control instruments.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Input data into the Calor work management system.
  • Maintain safety, fire, and gas equipment.
  • Assist in the calibration and testing of plant vibration monitoring and shutdown systems.

 

Key Skills, Experience & Knowledge:

 

  • HNC (or equivalent) qualification in Instrumentation & Control.
  • Comp EX certification (Desirable)
  • Experience in oil & gas.
  • Electrical Wiring Regulations (EWR) training.
  • Proficiency in work management systems.
  • Ability to track and update schematic drawings and reports.
