This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to move off the road and into a role where you’ll share your expertise, develop others, and play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards in transport safety and compliance.
What you’ll do
As Driver Training Instructor, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality driver training across the region. You’ll:
- Coach and mentor drivers and apprentices, supporting them through their learning journey.
- Lead engaging classroom and on-road training sessions, ensuring drivers are equipped to deliver safely and effectively.
- Work alongside our Driver Training & Compliance Manager to shape national training standards and design bespoke CPC courses.
- Audit training activity, driver standards, and tachograph compliance, providing practical solutions where needed.
- Represent your region at national working groups and deputise for the DTCM when required.
This role offers the chance to make a visible impact—supporting colleagues, sharing best practice, and helping us achieve excellence in safety and compliance.
What we’re looking for
Essential skills & experience:
- Current and experienced HGV driver with a Cat C&E licence.
- Confidence in communicating and engaging with people at all levels.
- Ability to design, adapt, and deliver training to suit different audiences.
- A proactive, positive approach with great attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel within the region and occasionally nationally.
- A commitment to promoting safety and leading by example.
Desirable (training can be supported):
- Teaching or training qualification (e.g. Level 3 in Education & Training).
- CPC in Road Haulage (National/International).
- Counterbalance / Moffett FLT qualification.
- Knowledge of Dangerous Goods or experience in the LPG industry.
