COMAH Site Manager

Salary: £64,000 – £96,000 (dependent on experience) + car allowance + bonus

We are looking for a senior industrial leader to take full operational ownership of one of our UK COMAH-regulated facilities.

This is a high-profile leadership role where you will be responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient running of the entire site. You will lead operations, engineering, maintenance, process safety and support functions, ensuring the plant operates to the highest standards of safety, reliability and regulatory compliance.

As Site Manager, you will set the direction for the facility — shaping safety culture, driving operational excellence and ensuring the site performs against both regulatory expectations and business objectives.

This role offers true end-to-end site accountability and the opportunity to influence how a major hazard facility operates and evolves.

The Role

As COMAH Site Manager you will:

  • Take overall leadership responsibility for the safe and compliant operation of the Coryton facility

  • Lead process safety and occupational safety performance within a major hazard environment

  • Drive strong asset integrity and preventative maintenance standards

  • Ensure the site operates in line with COMAH regulations and wider UK HSE legislation

  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams across operations, engineering, maintenance and support functions

  • Manage site operating and capital budgets

  • Deliver major projects, shutdowns and regulatory improvement initiatives

  • Act as the key site contact for regulators including the Health and Safety Executive, local authorities and emergency services

  • Embed a proactive safety culture and strong performance management across the site

  • Align operational performance with wider business strategy and commercial objectivesAbout You

We are looking for an experienced leader who understands the complexities of operating within a COMAH or major hazard environment.

You will bring:

  • Significant leadership experience in high-risk industrial operations (e.g. COMAH, petrochemical, energy, chemicals, refining or similar)

  • Strong knowledge of COMAH regulations and UK HSE legislation

  • Expertise in Process Safety Management and Asset Integrity

  • Experience leading large, multi-disciplinary operational teams

  • A track record of delivering capital projects, shutdowns or turnaround programmes

  • Strong commercial awareness including budget ownership and cost control

  • The ability to build credibility with regulators and external stakeholders

  • A data-driven approach to operational performance and KPIs

Qualifications

  • Degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent experience)

  • NEBOSH or equivalent safety qualification
